IMMERSIVE VIDEO

The first time I saw an immersive video was a few months ago and I did not quite understand what I was supposed to do. Nowadays they become more and more popular and they are everywhere.

Immersive videos, also known as 360 videos, 360 degree videos or spherical videos,  are video recordings of a real-world panorama, where the view in every direction is recorded at the same time, shot using an omnidirectional camera or a collection of cameras. During playback the viewer has control of the viewing direction, a form of virtual reality.

This technology is now in our lives from Facebook videos to apps on smartphones that implement virtual reality. It is now easily accessible for everyone and soon it might turn into the normal way of filming a video.

What I find the most interesting aspect of this technology is that scientists can put it to good use. There were multiple videos uploaded recently in which from the use of such technology, scientists can now have a better view of Pluto and its moons. I can only imagine that with this begging we are taking huge steps into finding out more about the universe.

The big companies of the world started to use the 360 degrees videos for more developed commercials.

There are still issues with this technology, one being the connection between the cameras that is not always perfect, but considering that it is still a work in progress I believe that it will get to the point of reaching the perfect virtual reality.

There is the question of technology replacing more and more the reality. I believe that that is a long way and our generation can only enjoy the perks of this type of inventions.
